Welcome to Kilrush Nursing Home and Memory Care Centre, our modern purpose built nursing home where we provide a high standard of care 24 hours a day.
Our residents have varying needs from specialist support and help with everyday living to those who just need a helping hand to retain some independence. Some stay with us on a permanent basis whilst others stay for short periods of time.
Supporting the Director of Nursing each home has a dedicated team of staff nurses, senior healthcare assistants, healthcare assistants, activity coordinator, social care practitioner, allied healthcare professionals and ancillary staff, who’s focus is to enhance the lives of the elderly residents in their care.
Person-centred specialist care for people living with dementia
Knowing that a loved one is receiving care, attention, stimulation, and support, in a secure community brings great peace of mind for families.
We are dedicated to involving residents with memory loss in meaningful activities that help them feel valued and provide them with a sense of purpose.
Daily activities are specifically identified to nurture the spirit of residents by preserving life skills which are familiar to residents, including tasks that they have enjoyed doing in the past and which still bring them a sense of purpose in the present.
Our Memory Care team design personalised programmes with multi-sensory experiences, including exercise, gardening, intergenerational activities, pet therapy, depending on what benefits each individual the most.
Activities are organised on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, where residents have similar interests.

Respite Care
Some of our residents are with us for short-term respite care after acute medical care in a hospital, where they are ready to be discharged, but are not quite well enough to manage at home on their own yet. We offer skilled, individualised rehabilitation care, nursing and associated therapies.
Nursing Home Care
Our long term residents make Kilcolgan their new home-from-home when they are no longer able to live alone, either through illness or disability. We offer best-practice medical, nursing, rehabilitation and therapeutic services in a nurturing, safe and homely environment.

Living with Purpose
We encourage our residents to engage, enjoy, express, and live as full, independent and active a life as possible with us. Our dedicated activity coordinators and social care practitioners develop an extensive weekly calendar of activities, based on residents’ expressed preferences, and tailored to individual needs.
We provide support and stimulation through a blend of activities and therapies that enrich the body, mind and spirit. On a typical week residents enjoy music, singing and dance activities, light exercise, games, gardening, excursions, beauty pampering, and social gatherings. Residents like to spend time pursuing their own individual hobbies or interests, as well as join in on group activities in our communal and quiet lounges.
Our activities programming is designed to bring together residents, staff, family and friends – and to turn each day into an opportunity for our residents to Live With Purpose.

Nutrition and Dietary Health
We pride ourselves on the quality of our food that is all home made by our excellent and experienced team of cooks and chefs.
We only use the finest, fresh ingredients and all meals are nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared daily.
Residents are consulted on a regular basis with regard to fresh additions to the menu. Residents’ choice guides everything we do.
We regularly host special afternoon tea parties for residents and families. Every birthday is celebrated with fresh cake.

Bringing some extra comfort and affection to our valued residents
Meet Solo – our Jack Russell/Sheepdog cross who has been visiting Kilrush nursing home weekly for the past eight years. He is so special and loved by everyone, residents, staff and visitors alike.
Solo takes his job very seriously – walking wth residents along the corridors, being there for residents who are in need of a little extra emotional support – innately loving people. It is very therapeutic for staff to see the smiles and happy eyes of the residents brighten at the sight of Solo.
